Sharing Meeting Held at the CWC3-2026 Secretariat Ahead of the 3rd Coastal Water Convention

In preparation for the upcoming Water Convention, a sharing meeting was held with the journalists in Khulna on 12 January at 4:00 PM at the convention secretariat at AOSED office in Khulna. The meeting was chaired by Professor Anwarul Kadir, Co-chair of 3rd Coastal Water Convention Committee and Executive Director of Sundarban Academy, and moderated by Shamim Arfeen, Member Secretary of 3rd Coastal Water Convention – 2026 and Executive Director of AOSED.


The discussion focused on key issues including water scarcity, the impacts of climate change, challenges in accessing safe drinking water in coastal areas, waterlogging, and sustainable water management.
Senior journalists and media representatives from leading print and electronic media outlets in Khulna were present at the meeting. At the conclusion of the meeting, participants expressed optimism that such consultative dialogues would effectively contribute to presenting the voices, demands, and lived realities of coastal communities at the Water Convention and would play a meaningful role in influencing policy-level discussions and decision-making.


Decisions adopted
- A dedicated WhatsApp group will be formed to facilitate coordination, communication, and real-time information sharing related to the Convention.
- Participating newspapers will circulate daily Convention updates throughout the three-day event period.
- The Secretariat will contact Chief Editors of national dailies and major television channels to encourage broader coverage and national-level visibility.
- Video footage, relevant information, and documentation from the three-day Convention program will be compiled and shared with journalists and media representatives as required.
- Abstract papers must be submitted within the specified deadline, and the Secretariat will share the abstract submission guidelines with relevant participants.
